Anointing of the Sick

By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them.

- Catechism of the Catholic Church 1499

The Sacrament may be celebrated after every Sunday Mass. Please see the Pastor prior to Mass in order to be anointed. The sign of this sacrament is sacred oil applied to the forehead and hands by a priest, who recites the prayers of the Church.

Someone who is facing serious surgery or severe illness, whether physical, mental or spiritual, should be anointed. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is for those who sick and for those who are dying.

Please let us know if a member of your family is ill. We would like to visit them in the hospital or at home and bring them Holy Communion.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please call the Parish Office at 724-586-7610 or send an email to parishoffice@holysepulcher.org.
