Below are the descriptions of the Faith Formation Classes available
Family of Faith: Traditional Program:
This program is offered to children who attend Public or Christian Schools in grades K, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6. This session meets weekly on Sundays from 9:00-10:15a.m. This option combines the use of a textbook with multiple opportunities to participate and connect with the life of the Church and attendance at Mass. There is also a family component that needs to be completed at home with the family. Regular attendance is expected; children are to be on time and early dismissals avoided. If there are more than 3 missed classes not due to illness, families are asked to participate in the Family Catechesis Program. The classes are held in the school.
Family of Faith: Sacramental Program:
This program is for children in grades 2, 7, and 8. Students preparing for First Reconciliation and First Communion are to attend this program from 9:00-10:15a.m. on Sundays. Attendance in this program is a requirement for the reception of the sacraments.
Students in grades 7-8 will be preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation preparation takes place over the course of these 2 years. These students attend sessions on
Sundays from 9:00-10:15a.m. and attendance is a requirement.
Family of Faith: CGS-Catechesis of the Good Shepherd:
This is an approach to the faith formation of young children ages 3,4, and 5. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the Church, church doctrine, and the hands-on Montessori educational principles. The children gather in the “atrium,” a place of formation of the whole child; it is a school of prayer where work becomes opportunity for deep contemplation, penetrating the fullness of the child’s interior life. This session is held in the Early Childhood building on Sundays from 9:00-10:15a.m.
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is not a method but a way of life!
Family of Faith: Family Catechesis Program - Grades K, 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6
This option is the family based catechesis for home and parish. This option is for those with busy schedules who perhaps participate in various outside activities, making a weekly commitment difficult, and for families who wish to take charge of the faith formation of their children. This program truly puts the faith formation of your children into your hands with guidelines to follow so that you don’t feel overwhelmed or unsure where to start. Parents who choose this option commit to one monthly informational meeting between September and April for tips and tools about the programming for that month. Our goal is to give your children a greater opportunity to understand and experience their Catholic faith as a family and as a church in the place where it is nurtured, the Family.
