Mission Trip Demographics
As one of five boroughs in New York City, Queens is one of the most diverse communities in the world, with a population of 2.24 million people. Youthworks is housed in the Jamaica neighborhood, home to a highly diverse community. In addition to ethnic diversity, there is huge economic disparity in Queens between the urban neighborhoods, the beach front life, and the more suburban areas.
What will we do in Queens?
Missionaries going on Mission Trip 2017 will do a variety of service activities. Whether we're working with children or partnering with local organizations such as senior homes, soup kitchens, or community gardens, we hope to be the hands and feet of Christ to others and also to see Jesus in everyone we meet! We cannot confirm exactly what ministries a missionary will be a part of during the week, but we ask that everyone comes with a willing and flexible spirit!
What will the group be like?
We are partnering with YouthWorks, an organization that hosts dozens of worksites each summer throughout the United States. Nearly 75 people from the Holy Sepulcher and Saint John Neumann Parishes will serve on mission trip this year. Plus Father Michael Gossett, Vocations Director for the Diocese of Steubenville, will also be serving with us this week!
